Collegiate athletic programs in the United States have had incredible successes over the course of several years. College athletes should be able to receive payment while attending school because a college athlete is always working, the networks gain a lot of viewers who love to watch athletes play, and these student-athletes bring in revenue for their team and the University, and if they can't get paid at least they offer medical care. Get an original essay Sean Gregory said, “In testimony exposing the black market economics of college basketball, former Adidas associate TJ Gassnola said he paid the family of former Kansas player Billy Preston $ 89,000 and the guardian of current Kansas forward Silvio De Sousa $2,500 for online lessons. Money is already flowing to the players; business is booming and will continue to thrive.” but the government prosecutes those who receive the pay rather than encouraging the payments. “The college sports industry generates $11 billion in annual revenue they report annual revenues exceeding $100 million. These revenues come from numerous sources, including ticket sales, sponsorship rights, and the sale of broadcast rights. The BIG Ten Conference has launched its own television network that sells airtime to sponsors during the broadcasts of its football and men's basketball games. College athletics are in high demand and having good athletes to showcase makes it more interesting to watch. However, good student-athletes want to join the professional draft because they want to make money. Even college athletes nowadays receive scholarships on an annual basis under which the student athlete can be released at any time. College athletes have to make money somehow, but athletics is a full-time job. College sports are slowly moving away from amateurism. Schools receive money for luxury facilities, beautiful sports complexes and charter jets for away games. Yet the kids who perform and do all the work get nothing. This is the only job in America where the person doing it doesn't see the money. Student athletes work so hard to be their best, most athletes spend several hours a day to be the best. Sometimes more than the average rate for most Americans living in the United States. Athletes cannot have real jobs, there is simply no time due to coming home late from away games. To be an athlete you have to get up early to train or train in the morning. Waking up early in the morning usually causes tiredness in class, and students don't really learn due to lack of sleep, causing grades to drop. They also put themselves on the path to personal injury. It's not fair that the NCAA and some major universities make millions of dollars because talented athletes receive nothing for their performances. Maddie Weiss said that "players on top college football teams dedicate 43 hours a week to practicing and performing in games, according to an NCAA survey." The hard work of student athletes is showcased in the games and when they are broadcast they gain a lot of viewers online. The networks have broadcast college athletics for several decades. There are 13 different networks that broadcastlots of different college games, 2 main ones are Fox Sports and ESPN. In 1979, ESPN fundamentally changed the way sporting events were broadcast. ESPN paid $7.3 billion for the right to air the four-team playoffs for 12 years. Nowadays different basketball tournaments are broadcast on many different television networks. One of the largest tournaments is March Madness, for which ESPN paid $7.3 billion to telecast. Football is also of great interest to spectators. All bowl games, including College Football Playoff bowls on ESPN networks unless otherwise noted. The NCAA Division 1 Championship is also broadcast on ESPN. Networks make money from viewership, and when millions of people watch a particular network, that network receives millions of dollars. Maddie said, “Millions of people are watching March Madness, the annual college basketball championship tournament.” The networks make a lot of money from collegiate sports, but they share the profits with universities and colleges. Student athletes recruited and subsidized so they could be shown on television, where millions of people across the United States are expected to be paid as employees. People who watch athletes play on national television want to see them play in person, driving up ticket sales. College athletes work very hard to achieve great performances. When ticket sales increase, that brings in more money to pay for the buses. Alabama football coach Nick Saban was paid $8.3 million in one season, the highest-paid public employee. Yet the kids who participate in these games receive at most a scholarship. Student-athletes increasing ticket sales have helped increase the total money generated by football and basketball by 300%. Sean said, “Four “Basketball Hall Of Fame” member coaches took home a combined $26.4 million in total pay in 2018, according to a salary database compiled by USA Today.” Yet NCAA rules prohibit the players he coaches, the ones millions will cheer and mock on national television, from earning a market salary. Players produce revenue not only for their school but also for businesses and networks. College athletes get hurt, that's part of the game, but they shouldn't have to pay for their own medical care. If college athletes can't get paid, at least they'll pay their medical bill. Because many athletes put themselves in danger of personal injury. Some universities take good care of their athletes, but most don't. Several college athletes have been injured and it has cost them millions, sometimes even their entire career can be ruined. On September 9, 2006, Inky Johnson went to tackle a wide receiver like he always does, but this time it was different. The contrast caused the subclavian artery in the chest to rupture and the ligaments in the shoulder to rupture. Inky had to use insurance to pay for his surgery, but what if colleges could pay students to have the surgeries they need. There are several athletes out there who have been injured and paying the students' medical bills would be a great help. Even though student athletes work so hard and put in the majority of their time, many people believe they shouldn't be paid. College athletes should not be paid to play collegiate sports. Collegiate programs allow students to play the sports they love while receiving the education and skills needed to live a successful life. College athletes are before.
