Topic > Personal Service Learning Projects on Emergency Management

During the semester, we were told we would be doing essays on service learning projects. The task entrusted to me was to participate with MEMA Kids in the Natural Sciences Museum. I teamed up with my Incident Commander Kayla Anderson and my Safety Officer Anthony Jones. I was the liaison officer who had to make sure that both sides were in direct contact with each other. The program lasted two days and it was a very pleasant experience to take part in it. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Preparedness action is also known as preparedness, which is one of the four phases of emergency management. Emergency management involves four different phases that emergencies must follow to return to the new normal. The first phase is mitigation, i.e. acting and committing to reduce any type of consequences and involves ensuring that all risks can be partially prevented. Mitigation is achieved through regulations, local ordinances, and land use. A community can also, through mitigation, achieve preparedness, which is the second phase of emergency management. Preparedness is a continuous cycle of planning, managing, organizing, training, and improving to ensure effective coordination. Preparedness prevents, protects, creates resources and mitigates the effects of natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other man-made disasters. The next course of action is Response. Response includes immobilizing necessary response and first responders. This is determined by the type of emergency and supported by secondary emergency services. Different types of emergencies use different types of vehicles. A simple robbery won't need HAZMAT teams. The many different ways of responding arise from different variables. The final element of emergency management is recovery. Recovery is the goal of returning the affected area to its previous state. The effects of a large disaster or emergency take time to recover from. Recovery efforts address issues and decisions that must be made after needs have been met. Recovery efforts include rebuilding destroyed properties, repurposing and repairing essential infrastructure. The Service Learning description involves on-the-job training for future activities. Community service or any time of service that is not intended for learning is not considered. Service Learning is a huge opportunity to gain hands-on experience especially in your field. Service-learning projects are necessary to gain hands-on experience in any type of field. The uniqueness of service learning is that it opens up all the opportunities. Emergency management and service learning projects go hand in hand because any type of emergency could occur in the project. Any type of emergency could mean that a hurricane, tornado, or any type of natural or man-made disaster could occur at any time. Emergency management has the tools needed to help a person get through a disaster. Different projects in different areas may need training to overcome an emergency.
