Topic > Understanding who they are through different relationships

Everyone, no matter where they go, maintains a relationship with someone. I have different types of relationships. I maintain a relationship with my mother, father, sister, boss, grandfather, grandmother and my teachers. It is important to maintain different relationships with people, some will show us that they care and support us, others may not work. Different relationships help you become the person you are. Relationships have shown me how to trust, communicate, be honest, responsible and respect. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Creating a positive relationship with teachers makes students feel more comfortable opening up to them when they need help. This fall semester is my first semester as a college student. I have a low grade in math, I don't understand my teacher. I asked her what I could do to improve my grade and she said, “go to tutoring.” Tutoring helped me understand math concepts I didn't understand. It is important to have a teacher-student relationship because when you communicate with them they help you. Teachers care about students, they want them to succeed. My mother showed me how to trust and be responsible. Having a relationship between daughter and mother is important because it increases communication, trust, respect and mutual honesty. In her text “I Want a Wife,” Judy Brady states that she “wants a wife who will keep track of the kids' appointments at the doctor and dentist” (502). Growing up, my mother was always responsible for making sure my sister and I had our annual check-up appointment with the doctor and every 6 months with the dentist. My mother showed me how to take responsibility and do responsible things that an adult does, now I am responsible for making appointments for my parents and sister. Whenever I was sick or something happened to me, my mother was the one who took care of me. Having an open relationship with our mother helps children trust them in everything because they are there to help us, listen to us and hold us accountable. My father showed me that he had respect for others and myself, as well as being a hard worker. A relationship between daughter and father creates and shows the child how to trust them. My father taught me to communicate with different genders, he also showed me what men are like. My father once talked to me about what men are like and what they want. He taught me not to fall for men's chatter, dad gave me a lot of advice. My father also taught me to become a harder worker, to always work for what you want and what better way than to do it yourself and not depend on others. My father's encouragement to be responsible, independent and work led me to work for the things I want, and one big step I took was buying my first car from the dealership at the age of 18. Bonding with the parent of the opposite sex might be scary but it helps build trust and helps you communicate better because you can count on them. Being an employee has shown me that I am responsible and independent. Having a good relationship with your boss is important because by having good communication they see the person you are and will trust you. From the beginning, when I applied to be a youth instructor, the only position they had available was as a substitute teacher. I accepted the substitute teacher position and every day for oneweek I got a call from my boss saying, “Hey, I was wondering if you would be willing to substitute today for this school from 2:25pm to 6:00pm,” I replied. she would always say “yes” to him. My boss saw that I was interested in the job and an opportunity came my way right away than I expected. I got a phone call on April 17th of this year, my boss called me and said, "Hey, I need to talk to you, can you please come by my office today at 1:30 pm if that's okay?" This call scared me precisely because I didn't know what he had to talk to me about, I went to his office and he said "I have a question for you, do you want to work?" I replied: “Of course I want to work”. My boss then said to me: "You are officially hired, I like the person you are, you have never turned down an opportunity I gave you that speaks well of you, it seems like you want to work." Since I have a job I have become someone my boss can count on, whenever there are opportunities for extra hours I take them, whenever a leader doesn't come to work I step up and do the work for both of us. Being able to have good communication and build trust with your boss makes them see you as someone you can count on. I am a sister and being a sister has taught me to become an honest person. Growing up from elementary school through high school I was bullied. I never told anyone what was happening to me because I was afraid that others would judge me. In middle school, I wrote an essay in English class where I didn't think about what I wrote, but I'm grateful I did because my teacher had to report it to the principal. My parents realized what was happening and got me a counselor to help me overcome the situation I was experiencing. Being bullied and not telling anyone has made me have an open relationship with my sister, I always tell her that she is not alone and whatever happens to her, I want her to be able to come to me and talk to me. My little sister came to me the other day and told me she had a "C" in her AP math class. She was nervous about telling my mom, but I told her it was okay that she had to be honest with my mom because she would find out anyway. My sister then told my mom and my mom said, "it's okay, I understand you're doing a higher level of math and it's hard, but I need you to try harder and improve your grade." Having a good relationship with my sister taught me to be an honest person and tell her about my life experiences. Furthermore, there is an open trust between the two because we communicate better and she can count on me. Please note: this is just an example. Get a custom paper from our expert writers now. My grandmother, for example, always told us that the first impression is always important, when you have guests and they enter the house it is always important to greet them and offer them a drink, in this way the guests feel welcomed. Another example: Growing up I thought my parents didn't like me because they would get me into trouble. My grandfather told me to talk to my parents and tell them how I felt. When I talked to my parents, they told me they would get me in trouble because they didn't want me to do the wrong things. My grandmother taught me how to earn people's respect. Even if people don't treat you well, you should show them otherwise and show them respect. My grandfather showed me that being able to communicate with someone when things are not going well or going badly helps to find a solution to problems..
