Topic > A Molecular Biosciences Major: My Educational Goal

I am a student at Washington High School. My life goal is to obtain a bachelor's degree in molecular bioscience which consists of classes such as; biology, chemistry, human genetics and physics. I selected this specialization because taking this course would provide me with the lessons needed to apply to optometry school or the prerequisites. I plan to attend Johnson County Community College (JCCC) and then transfer to the KU Edwards Campus through majoring in 3 programs. After I earn my bachelor's degree, I plan to attend optometry school at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. in which I will obtain my Doctorate in Optometry (OD). Say no to plagiarism. On the other hand, my professional vision is to one day provide affordable healthcare and give back to communities across the United States. I am applying for this scholarship because it would help reduce the impact of rising tuition costs and student loans and give me more time to focus on my studies instead of work, which would reduce the risk of dropping out and not get the degree I want. I should be chosen for this scholarship because I am a hard working student and I am dedicated to taking full advantage of the opportunity that the scholarship will provide me. I'm also persistent. There may be other deserving candidates who probably deserve the award as much as I do, but my work ethic and past accomplishments are a good indicator of my future success. My hard work paid off during my sophomore year of high school when I was chosen as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. During my freshman year of high school, I was chosen for the superintendent honor roll for my school district and also when I did a summer internship at KUMC and presented my summer research, I was given the opportunity to present my summer project again at the Heartland (HBU) Undergraduate Biochemistry Conference. It's important to me to have an impact. Nelson Mandela said; “Like I said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you don't change yourself... Great peacemakers are all people with integrity, honesty, but humility. ” Another quote from Anthony S. Fauci; “I believe I have a personal responsibility to have a positive impact on society. “These quotes have inspired me to get more involved in society. Doing community service has helped me be more aware of things around me and I have also gained self-esteem and self-confidence. I also hope to make a positive impact on society by giving back something to the community I come from. It's always good to realize that even doing simple things to help others can have a huge impact. I enjoy helping people and there's nothing compared to the joy I feel knowing I've helped someone to become happy.
