Today we have two political parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. Two of which have different views of the political system. Both are important because they keep an open mind towards the public and towards the United States. Each of them focuses on insights crucial to the system that can help us benefit from it as a whole. Just as with all groups, there are always opinions and ideas in every group that serve as a good proposition to the people, this is what keeps America free. What is the difference between the two main groups? Well, it's simple, both have the same basic interest; they just follow the plan differently. Both Democrats and Republicans want what is best for the United States with the people in mind. Some of the topics that parties focus on are things like; national defense, healthcare, energy, education and economics. The Democratic approach to national defense is that they want to make sure that our military is well equipped with intelligence, training and support. Democrats want to protect our country's borders and keep terrorism out. When it comes to healthcare they believe in healthcare for all Americans. They want equality when it comes to medical needs, with taxes we can all get healthcare for less. Energy is a necessity nowadays without it there would be no technology, cars or energy. The Democratic view on energy is to try to make more use of America's natural resources. That means more domestic oil, solar, wind, gas and biofuels. Reduce consumption and be more fuel efficient so you can save money and stop drilling abroad. Democrats believe that when it comes to education, no child should be left behind. They want everyone to have the opportunity to get an education. They want to use funding and taxes to help pay for college and have programs for kids to succeed. The economy is constantly changing, Democrats want jobs for everyone. Put people to work by eliminating tax loopholes for corporations and tax cuts for small businesses. Republicans also have their own approach, on national defense they believe that our troops should be well equipped and ready for anything. Yes, I believe people should be treated equally, but being successful means struggle and hard work. Democrats want everyone to be equal and rely on government to solve their financial problems. You don't learn something when someone does the work for you. It's like trying to ride a bike but your parents won't let you go. Eventually you will get used to them there and rely on them not knowing how to ride a bike on your own. On the other hand the parent can let go, you might crash, but only with a few scratches then you're back on your feet. He quickly learns the rules and now knows how to survive the fall. When I read that Democrats want to have these programs so students can go to school using tax dollars, it bothered me. Being a student myself, I believe that it is very important and that everyone should get an education, but just because you don't make a lot of money doesn't mean you have to use the money provided by the government. I believe it is right to have taxes to build schools and fund education, but I say focus more on teachers teaching students to make sure we get the knowledge we need for the future. Teachers should be held to higher standards, they are the ones who shape our lives and
