Teacher Interview Essay While attending Miami Edison Sr. High School, I had the honor of interviewing my field experience teacher, Mr. Armand. He was born in Haiti. He came to America when he was 13 years old. He graduated from Miami Edison Sr. High in 1992. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Miami Dade College. In 2001 he earned a bachelor's and master's degree in art from Florida International University. He taught at Miami Edison for 15 years. He teaches intensive mathematics and college algebra. Only teaches 10-12 year old students. Curriculum / Knowledge of the subject1. What inspires you to choose the teaching profession?2. His response: I choose the teaching profession because I believe that all students can learn. Everyone has the ability to achieve something great in life.3. How did you encourage less motivated students to participate in the lesson and complete their homework? His response: I let all my students know that they are at least responsible for paying attention. They are called and I always make sure everyone has a chance to participate. As for their work, I believe it is their responsibility to make sure their assignment is submitted on time.4. How do you integrate technology into your teaching and student learning? His response: I integrate technology into my teaching style by letting them work independently on the course content. They learn best when it comes to student-centered activities.5. What do you think a teacher needs to know to begin lesson planning for a class? His response: The three things I want to know about my students are personal interests, family history, and disability or any disability, so I know how to teach them. Conclusion During my interview with Mr. Armand I can honestly say that the way he teaches in the classroom is appropriate. He ensures that communication between his and students was clear. For them he is like a parent and a teacher. I learned that it is not as easy to be a teacher as everyone thinks but at the same time if you understand your students and their interest everything will be fine. I learned that being a teacher means helping your students succeed in everything they do little by little.
