During my master's degree in public administration career, I gained valuable knowledge for entering a public service career. When I began my graduate studies, I was unfamiliar with the world of public service outside of my love of philanthropy and volunteer work. Over the past two and a half years I have learned to think critically when faced with ethical and constitutional dilemmas, manage a budget, understand the political process, communicate with the public, and manage and lead productively for the whole. and not the individual. My certificate in Nonprofit Management paved the way for my understanding of marketing, fundraising, and managing a nonprofit organization. During my introduction to Public Administration, we focused on a variety of issues faced in Public Administration today. I was unaware of many of the issues surrounding the career path I chose, but after a few months on the topic I feel much better prepared to understand the ethical and critical issues of the public service world. In my essay “Critical Issues in Public Administration Today” I addressed the role that effective administrative leaders pursue in effective reorganization and the ability to make ethical and logical decisions. Public administrators are faced with numerous decisions on a regular basis that the course has provided comprehensive knowledge on using Exel to manage an organization's budgets and finances. My final assignment, analyzing the financial performance of the state of Missouri, took into consideration several factors examining intergovernmental revenues, expenditures, debt service, population, personal income and much more. Using trend analysis is a crucial way to evaluate government financial issues and provides a broader understanding of the situation to make informed decisions for the
