Teenagers who become pregnant often have difficulty in school and end up associating with dangerous individuals. Hispanic teen mothers often face financial instability due to their inability to speak the language. Gaining proficiency in your primary language is important for financial success. Many teenage mothers who don't speak English end up in environments that aren't right for them or their children. Leaving these low-poverty urban areas increases the risk of having sex at an early age, having a criminal record, sexual abuse, drug use and low academic test scores. Studies show that Hispanic children raised by teenage mothers are more likely to drink by age 18, smoke marijuana and be delinquent. Statistics that lead to classroom failure and a dysfunctional future. Most of the time Hispanic mothers are not to blame for their inability in the workplace. There are many cases where Hispanic mothers are forced to remain in low-income communities due to the complexity of their situation. Hispanics as well as other races are responsible for the “urban root”.
