Topic > Analysis of 'The Crakers' - 1005

As he attempts to eliminate the human population, Crake intends to create a type of people with characteristics that only he has decided. This may be related to Devin Moore, an Alabama teenager with no history of violence, who shot three police officers before fleeing in a stolen car. After his arrest, Moore's powerful statement was: "Life is a video game. Everyone has to die sometime" (Jaccarino, par. 10). It turns out that Moore was inspired to kill and steal by the violent game Grand Theft Auto. A child and adolescent psychiatrist named Dr. Paul Weigle stated that "[i]t is entirely possible that playing this script numerous times in the game influenced his decision making, and that is, in fact, what he said" (Jaccarino , par.11). The fictional character Crake and the non-fictional character Adam Moore both have aggressive behavior in relation to their enjoyment of playing violent video games which ignites their desire to satisfy their bloodlust. It is proven that the character of Crake can still exist today. There are gamers who cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality.
