Topic > Essay on CT Scan - 1250

1) What is CT Scan? CT/CAT scan also known as (computed tomography/computed axial tomography) is a type of machine that uses X-ray waves, a powerful radiating wave from the electromagnetic spectrum. It also uses computing machines to produce detailed images of the inside of a body to perform a complete and thorough body check with precise texture. It provides a clear three-dimensional view of soft tissues such as blood vessels, muscles and even our vital organs. CT scanning serves many purposes. Radiologists authorize and review x-ray images (tomography) and protocol the study, after which a radiology technician will perform the study. The CT scan is also used by veterinarians to internally check pets and animals, it has also been used for archaeological research, a good example will be the study of our ancient Egyptian mummies. The main purpose of CT scans is often used to locate internal injuries, which are used to prepare for further tests and treatments. For example, CT scans can identify both normal and abnormal tissue, making it useful and clearer for radiologists to plan and execute radiation treatment. Question 2Q2) In conclusion, I can deduce that the writer is trying to tell us that CT may be a good thing, but for this reason it is also the cause of the rapid increase in the number of people getting cancer. According to the article, “Early diagnosis through medical imaging can save lives, but there is sadly little evidence of improved health outcomes associated with the current high rate of scans, cancer rates remain stubbornly high, and the main culprit may be our medical practices, we are silently radiating ourselves to death.” This is all the essential information...in the center of the paper......life and thinking outside the box this skill helped me a lot to understand the article from a much clearer point of view. Secondly, identifying and weighing the argument made me understand whether the article is argumentative or descriptive. It also helps me understand how passive the writer is trying to become by identifying how they phrase their sentences and the words they use. Third is the evaluation of evidence such as independent reasons, joint reasons, general conclusion and so on. For example from question 2 of the task when asked to identify the conclusion and provide relevant supporting information, I am now able to identify the conclusion very easily. Last but not least is the drawing of the conclusion. Now I am able to draw better conclusions much more clearly. I am now able to connect my conclusion with the supported evidence.
