This essay will discuss how recent changes in the law can impact the tourism industry, as it is extremely vulnerable when it comes to these regulatory changes and that is why that politics contributes to these impacts. Governments introduce different laws and regulations that each individual and company must follow or adapt to, organizations often have to change the way they operate due to new policies and these changes cost a lot of capital and if they fail to follow the rules, the organizations they may face court, for example, if customers feel the facilities do not meet their needs, such as wheelchair user in shop with no lift to access upstairs section. There are many laws that they oppose, such as the Equality Act 2010, the Taxation Act 2010 and the Environmental Protection Act 2006 which I will mainly focus on. The purpose of laws in society is to protect the public and organizations as such. It allows you to distinguish what is right and what is wrong, it also gives you the authority to take action against what is wrong. According to Soanes and Stevenson (2006) law is a rule or system recognized by a country or community as regulating the actions of its members and enforced through the imposition of sanctions. Howlettt (2010) stated that there are two types of laws: criminal law which deals with crimes against society at large, crimes prosecuted by states, and these cases, if not serious in nature, are heard in magistrate's court but if of serious nature, they will be heard in the crown courts and tried by a jury. Civil law, on the other hand, deals with disputes between private parties, for example consumers and supplies, injured party, issuing damages or injunctions, and these cases are heard in the county courts.
