Today, in the ever-changing world, we move away from the worldview of God and Christ. We do this by living in a society where we are not an object, we are not classified to fit into social groups, we cannot accept that our value lies in what we do and what we have. All of these statements I have made are true of modern day beliefs. Unfortunately, these beliefs are precisely what society has created for itself and the people living under it today. As the generations pass I feel that the idea that you are an individual who competes in this world, rather than in God's world, is pushed more and more; how the world should be, loving everyone as one's neighbor. In a world that is losing the identity of being one, of loving our neighbor, Christian-based institutions begin the revolution of us returning to the word of God and directing the world /people the way it should work. Nowadays these organizations reach out not only to the people in their communities, but to the individual family and even more so to the next generation. An example of a Christian-based institution that does this is an education system. Having been in Cincinnati for about three years now, I work for Holy Family Parish and have worked closely with their school. The school applies the principles of social justice in everything it does to unite the community and teach everyone that everyone has the right to life, that the weak and poor are better served and that they protect/respect God's creation. The school organizes events where everyone in the community is welcome, not just the families of the kids who attend or the students. When it's time for mass they open the doors to anyone; they also have as recently as last year… half of the card… principles but they also connect to the principles of Bliss. Every institution does this because it is through the Beatitudes that we realize that we are different, but one. This difference is what unites us as living beings, as human beings. It makes us self-evaluate our lives and look at those who suffer. We learn that if we don't change we will feel the hunger, the thirst, the sickness that people all over the world fill if we don't help them, and that living through modern beliefs of wanting more, having more is what makes us powerful and unique it will leave us with a feeling of craving that we will never be able to satisfy. It is by being poor, merciful, etc. that we feel whole, that we can live in unity with our neighbors because it is right that our neighbors, our brothers and sisters have what we have; the essential elements for living.
