Topic > Reflection on October Baby - 1000

One of my favorite parts was that one time Hannah was home from the trip, her adoptive mother sat down with her and told her that she once had twins too, but that they had lost. Her mother told Hannah about a church she would always go to and Hannah finally went, the priest's words really attracted me. He said the church has a letter from the apostle Paul and the letter said, “because we have been forgiven for God we should forgive each other. In Christ you are forgiven and because you are forgiven you have the power to forgive and choose to forgive, let it go. Hate is a burden that you no longer have to carry, only in forgiveness can you be free, forgiveness that you cannot find in a trip or in a church but if the sun can free you, you will truly be free. Jonathan wants you to live your life, live it to the fullest. This really gave me a new way of thinking. In another part of the film, Hannah's father takes her to her brother's grave and says there: “The doctor said there wasn't much brain activity, but I saw him smile, we really believe God would heal him. But when I looked at you I never thought something so small could overwhelm me. It's the dialect of those two people that made me think about how people see God and how they think He can help them. The way I grew up I wasn't taught religion. I know God exists but I had no idea what He was/is capable of. At the end of the film Hannah's birth mother is seen walking into her office holding a note and hospital bracelet, the note says, "I forgive".
