Overall, my Socratic Seminar experience was average. My thoughts were mostly reaffirmed as many people seemed to agree with what I thought. When we talked about how the institution of discrimination has been imprinted in American history, I found that many people shared the same idea that this is a problem that goes back a long time and is very difficult to solve. However, I found that no one had any real idea how to fix this problem. When I raised this question, no one responded and the conversation was quickly diverted to the idea that discrimination exists in America. From this event I discovered that many people see discrimination as a problem in this country and in the world, but when asked to find a better way to try to solve this problem, they really have no idea how we can try to solve it.
