The main ones are increased taxation, the effect it will have on the type of government in America, it will limit the choice of medical treatments, it will cause a longer wait for care and there is the problem of people who are already "sold" to plans they have already purchased. There are many people who are concerned about the country's constitutional authority mandating universal healthcare on its citizens. Perhaps people believe that by doing so the United States government is moving more toward a democracy and less toward a constitutional republic. The next big issue is how the government will pay for the program that provides healthcare to every citizen. The two options are: the government pays from its own revenue or taxpayers' money goes to finance it. The government is already in debt, which leaves the costs to taxpayers' money. It is not possible for medical care to be free and taxes to increase. The other big concern is how people who have already purchased health insurance, or who have signed up for a plan, are reimbursed for their costs.
