Topic > Review of two articles on the impact of globalization...

This article aims to examine the key concept of globalization as it pertains to developing countries. It is a review of two articles; the first titled “The Limits of Globalization in the Early Modern Age” by De Vries (2010), while the other article is titled “Could Developing Countries Benefit from Globalization?” by Hartungi (2006). The two articles are similar in that they highlight the negative impact of globalization on developing countries but contrast on the scope of study and the evolution of globalization in general. This article will critically analyze these 2 articles to provide a better understanding of this phenomenon. They will also highlight how industrialized countries have helped other developing countries catch up with globalization, as well as the consequences this has brought. Hartungi (2006) talks about globalization as a broad term used in many different contexts in the literature, its impacts on developing countries, its advantages and its limitations. As for its limitations, he discussed how to protect infant industries and reduce globalization-related problems. It focused on the impacts of globalization on four main areas, namely trade and industry, labor and employment, intellectual property rights and finally the environment as a whole. He argued that economic developments in developing countries are both influenced by global and national policies established by the global community. He also examined globalization from five perspectives: financial, economic, demographic, general and many other points of view. Everyone agreed that the term globalization is "a series of increasing connectivity, where goods, services and people are transported across ...... half of the article ......Europe and Asia as a case study which are developed and developing countries using them as the basis for a general assumption for its findings In conclusion, the articles raise interesting points on a topic that is both relevant and important, but tends to be biased in ignoring the. possible benefits of globalization for developing countries.
