Although there are many professions in our growing world today, very few require as much self-determination as that of a sales representative. The value of a sales representative is increasing in our economy today, and many companies are looking for pioneers to take on the challenges of filling the position. Being a sales representative for any company comes with a great deal of merchandise knowledge, responsibility, skills and experience. The position of sales representative, or sales representative for short, is a very important part of the success of a company. While there are several, a sales representative's primary responsibility is to pique customer interest and conduct the final sale of merchandise. A sales representative isn't appointed to the position overnight. Often a few years of experience are needed before you can qualify for the position. After receiving the title of sales representative, they also receive a territory for which they are responsible. The person in a sales representative position is responsible for an almost unlimited number of things in their region, in addition to making their own sales (Bureau). There is a common misconception among those outside the company. The job titles of retail representative and sales representative are often linked together. While the principles are generally the same, who sells their products is also different. In retail sales representatives or salespeople sell directly to the consumer. With this, a single sales representative, without the prefix "retail" in his title, sells devices to companies who sell them to individual consumers (Bureau).
