Listening to what families, children and young people perceive as their needs and working to adapt their services to meet or counteract some of the problems that arise when the well-being of children children and young people the individual is affected is what professionals aim to achieve. Different agencies in the UK have worked together to improve the wellbeing of children and young adults, such as teachers, social workers, foster carers, child protection teams, etc… Using Activity 2.9 (Open University 2014) as an illustration, the narrator explained the story of Connor, a young boy who was placed in foster care. As a child, Connor had likely experienced ambivalent, avoidant, and disorganized attachment patterns prior to his current placement which may have impacted his behavior. The foster family feared that if Connor had to leave them, it could lead to further problems. Agencies working within Connor's welfare, such as children's social workers, should accommodate that Connor's relationship with the foster family has no impact on his wellbeing. Operators must also work with respect for the diversity of children and young people. Diversity can help start to overcome inequalities in society, which could be a positive or negative outcome. Professionals must first identify the assumptions they make about people so they can ensure they treat everyone with respect.
