Eustace Conway was a true American transcendentalist because he was self-educated, self-inspired, self-taught, and simply at one with nature. he was and is a great inspiration for many people and is a very spiritual man, in tune with nature and is far from society. Eustace Conway was said to be an extraordinary man, as stated by many people who met and had the pleasure of knowing him. In this research paper I will examine what people have said and what makes Eustace Conway a true American Transcendentalist. Body 1: Eustace Conway an extraordinary man in many people's eyes, he is one of a kind, so different from others, therefore far from everyone else. "legendary mountain man Eustace Conway." this is a direct quote that was said in one of Eustace's interviews, showing that he is highly regarded and revered in society. he wasn't like the others, perhaps because of his life. he grew up in the desert, was raised by well-educated parents. However, he was set free, allowed to roam and explore, and learned many skills that helped him when he leaves his home to live in the wilderness. he never actually got involved in the common society unless it was a fight over his land that happened because payments were overdue or because of health code violations. he did everything a true transcendentalist needed, he just ran away from the word and went to fend for himself and didn't need to be around others, he brought them into his teachings so that others could follow his footsteps and the "old Time" culture, if you will. this is why Turtle Island was created, it was a reserve created so that people who wanted to get away and learn what the basics felt like could go and do something like that. there is no running water, no electricity, and you...... middle of paper ......ristic.body 4: society, this strange place, is so full of problems, crime, and it more harm than good, Eustace believes all this. when he went to the city he found it was so strange and noisy and found it much harder to fit in. The people here were different, they were distrustful, dishonest and so quick to judge and mock. When Eustace went to New York, he found some drug dealers and was ridiculed by them. they were judging him by his clothes (the duck skin). they thought he stole me, this man they don't even know, they thought he stole me. he couldn't believe this was true, "what happens in the world, where a man can't dress differently and not be molested." Eustace also went on to say that it was a bad reference to the company. in the world there is too much crime and too many vile people. this is another feature that he really likes for soc
