When a teenager sees an article on their phone about how much they should or shouldn't weigh, it causes them to have low self-esteem because they think that since they don't they look like what they society says they should, they want to change themselves. As Ncbi.nlm.nih.gov also states, "Thus, it seems that students with lower mental health and psychological balance are more vulnerable to addictive cell phone use, because they try to reduce their internal tensions by talking to others". This means that since one would have low self-confidence, this would cause them to use their phone addictively, whereas if one had a higher level of confidence, they would only use their phone as needed.
