Topic > My Teaching Philosophy: My Philosophy of Education

Bradley BramblettApril 24, 2014Dr. GivensBEF 360Philosophy of EducationMy decision to pursue a career in teaching was due, in part, to my desire to have an impact on the kids I teach. Teaching is a very rewarding profession where the teacher can directly influence a child's life. During this phase of my college career, I realized that becoming a teacher is not too far out of my reach. There have been many influences in my life that have brought me to this point and helped me set goals for my career. Mainly thanks to my father's influence, I decided that I wanted to become a teacher. When all is said and done, I will be a third generation teacher, and growing up in an educational environment has given me the foundation to pursue a teaching career. In my philosophy of education, I think it is necessary to expose what I think I believe and why I believe what I do. I believe that every student who walks through my doors, regardless of race, religion, economic status, nationality, or language barrier, should receive an education, and it is my job as a teacher to do my part to ensure that happens. I think one of my concerns is making the classroom as safe as possible and a place where students can feel safe and secure. When they are in class, I will do everything I can to ensure they are in a focused and learning-friendly environment. I will also try to win and respect their trust and hopefully build relationships with students through our mutual respect. I realize that not all students learn at the same pace or in the same way, so I will vary my teaching techniques so that all my students can Learn. It is essential not to leave students behind or learn... halfway through the paper... s. I know it's the year 2014 and you would think that this shouldn't be as big of an issue as it actually is. But for some reason it's still a big deal. Racial inequality is always mentioned in the news and must be stopped. There is no reason why everyone can't get along and be together for eight hours of school five days a week. One of the most important things to me as a teacher is that I am a leader, 180 days out of the year students will come into my classroom and turn to me to learn. I believe in leadership by example. I must show up every morning prepared and ready to work, stay after school if necessary, and do whatever it takes to get the job done. I will present a professional appearance and be a role model for my students. I will be consistent in classroom management, discipline and keep my students engaged.
