When he returned to his good friend, Mr. Bingley, he was distressed and after his attempt to protect his friends he realized that he had only made one mistake. He told Mrs Bennet of an earlier conversation with Mr Bingley: "I told him, further, that I think I was mistaken in supposing, as I had done, that your sister was indifferent to him." He, trying to be the honest person, openly admitted his flaws and made everything right. He never considered his actions as good or better, only he knew what he did. His protection of Lydia Bennet, a young sister of Elizabeth Bennet, was mentioned only by Mrs. Gardiner. When Mrs Bennet heard the news she did nothing but tremble in tears due to her caring nature. Mr Darcy was too humble to brag about donating 10,000 to protect his family name or to openly admit Mr Wickham's bad deeds just to get back up
