My mother came from plebeian stock and my family had a long, if not overly illustrious, history. It was a patrician family on my father's side and, therefore, one of the founders of Rome and enjoyed some traditional privileges and offices. I received the classical education, based on rhetoric, of a young Roman in Rome and Rhodes. I was considered one of the most cultured and literate Romans by an expert like Cicero himself. “I followed the traditional Roman practice of conducting some judicial proceedings to attract political attention” (Encyclopedia “Gaius”). “Experience is the teacher of all things” (Mark). I say this because I believe that to be as successful as possible, you need to be well educated in that subject, and you need to have already had some sort of experience so you know what it's like and can improve next time around. In the following years he emerged as one of Rome's leading political and social personalities.
