The famous spiritual leader and philosopher Swami Vivekananda, once said that the way to success is "Take an idea. Make that idea your life: think about it, dream about it , live by that idea. Let your brain, your muscles, your nerves, every part of your body, be filled with that idea, and leave every other idea alone." To me this quote embodies what it takes to be successful. Just like in a marathon, the goal is not to come first and win but simply to finish and to do that you have to want to keep going, the pace at which you do it is irrelevant as long as you finish. Success doesn't have a set definition like love, it has many different meanings and applies to different things to different people. While society has its own statements about what success looks and feels like, the path to success cannot be written in theories and statics. Whether your meaning of success begins with money, being happy, or another personal gain, you need to work for it. Personally I can argue that there is no specific key to success but many keys to achieve it, they say that "it is not always the destination but the journey that is worth it", success should be measured by the amount of dedication, determination and passion put to make it real. Outliers: the Story of Success, written by Malcolm Gladwell, explains that perhaps there are specific formulas and scenarios that one can follow and, in turn, be successful. For example, in the book on Outliers the author describes what is called the 10,000 hour rule which states that it was "In fact, researchers [who] have established what they believe is the magic number for true competence: ten thousand hours ". To me this means saying that only when someone has practiced with some paper, therefore making our ideas of success very different. Personally, being happy with what you have done is a success, earning an amount of money that makes you comfortable is a success, having a family that you are proud of and that you love is a success in itself and being happy with what you you surround yourself is a success. Everyone's idea of it embodies who they are and how they see themselves, my only hope for success is that I never stop having that extreme hunger for it. To be successful you have to want it and dedicate yourself to that one goal without wavering, you have to be determined in mind and soul and you have to really have the passion so that in the end you are happy with it. In my eyes success is not something you can touch and feel like money, in other words it is intangible, it is something that warms your heart and fuels your fire for personal greatness.
