Globalization is defined as the process of integration across the world resulting from the exchange of views and ideas on different aspects, including political, economic, social, environmental and cultural aspects. Technological advances have accelerated the process in recent decades. It allowed people to travel, communicate and do business internationally. Therefore, people are integrated together in one society. Globalization brings significant changes in several aspects both in pros and cons. In the following parts, the reasons for the anti-globalization protests will first be examined. “Justice globalism” and related issues will also be discussed. Finally, there will be a case study that will show the typical anti-globalization movement, the role of young people in this type of movements and will be followed by a self-reflection. Reasons for Anti-Globalization Protests Although globalization benefits the world a lot, there are many problems, which prompt several anti-globalization protests. According to Jagdish Bhagwati "globalization is the cause of social evils", it affects the problem of poverty in less developed countries. Most of the problems are related to economic and environmental aspects.1. Unequal distribution of wealth Under the impact of globalization, it is obvious that the rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer. In reality, globalization is unable to reduce poverty in developing countries. In fact, it has led to the accumulation of wealth and power in rich countries or several developed countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Therefore the gap between rich and poor seems to continually widen… middle of paper… on various global issues and develop their own opinions. Later, they may realize that they need to stand up for themselves to make their voice heard by other people. This motivates them to organize or take part in anti-globalization movements. Finally, the emergence of social platforms also contributes to the increase in youth power. With the help of the social platform, they no longer need to think about how to promote their anti-globalization ideas and related movements, because they can let the world know what they think by posting on social platforms. Since young people are better able to keep up with such technological advances, they can use these platforms better than other people. Therefore, these reasons are very likely to contribute to the rise of youth power, which triggers anti-globalization movements.
