The assessment portfolio is used for summative assessment of student mastery of key curriculum outcomes. A portfolio includes a collection of the student's work that reflects his or her effort, progress, and accomplishments. Therefore, a portfolio should contain the students' best completed work, selected from the collection of student work by both the student and the teacher. The assessment portfolio is particularly compatible with audiovisual productions such as photographs, videotapes and electronic recordings of student work. The portfolio should also contain a written analysis and reflections of the student after the selection of works to be included in the portfolio.Portfolio Analysis Process1. Defining the Purpose of the Evaluation The most important step of the portfolio analysis is to establish the objective of the portfolio analysis. Having a clear portfolio purpose provides focus and a sense of direction for the evaluation process. The purpose of the portfolio will be based on issues such as the aspect of language learning to be used for the assessment, why the portfolio was made, the users of the portfolio, among others.2. Identifying Learning Objectives The next step is to identify the learning objectives and goals that have been set for students to achieve by the end of a specified period and achievement of the area indicated by the purpose of the assessment. Matching Tasks to Goals Language learning tasks should be selected based on the order in which they match the goals.
