Peer pressure, racial profiling, and stereotypes all stem from society telling us not to be ourselves and judging those who are different. If we continue to impose this kind of hatred on people who are just trying to be themselves, they will never truly learn who they are as people. Growing up, this is one of the first lessons you learn. As children, we are always told to be ourselves and make our own decisions. Why don't we continue like this into adulthood? But when a child notices that all his friends have the latest pair of sneakers and all their friends make fun of him because they don't have those sneakers, because that child is treated like an outcast. How can we treat a human being as something that has no value, all because he doesn't have some materialistic object that everyone else has? As a society, we need to stop penalizing someone for being different and except that, to be successful, being different is critical.
