Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle ; the tireless efforts and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” This inspires me because throughout my high school career I have set many goals for myself. I survived by writing many goal essays and, frankly, accomplished most of what I wanted. Selfishness is a great motivator when it comes to personal goals. I always wanted to play varsity field hockey and softball, become the varsity softball captain my senior year, join the top of my class, be a member of the National Honor Society, and find myself. My high school career wasn't the best four years of my life, but I still managed to set goals and achieve them, giving me a sense of accomplishment. Having this feeling of accomplishment continues to push me towards my further goals that I will set for myself. Sports have been and continue to be one of the most important parts of my life. I have been playing softball and field hockey since I was in seventh grade. I haven't always been a good athlete, but I've worked very hard to get to where I am today. When I was in seventh grade I watched high school girls play, both field hockey and softball, and I always wanted to be just like them. They worked together, they were skilled, hardworking, overall good at the sport and they were having fun. From then on I worked hard, practicing daily and putting my all into everything I did. I exercised, not only in training, but alone with my mother. I spent hours criticizing myself and to this day I still do. I took every practice and every game seriously... middle of paper... whether he's not there or not, and I accepted it. I learned that I still have a passion for art and architecture and I also learned that I want to travel the world. Goals are an important part of life and I have set many goals for myself over the years. When it comes to having to talk about myself and the goals I've achieved, it makes me feel selfish and conceited, but that comes with the territory and is a huge motivator for personal goals. My high school career wasn't the best of my life, but I still managed to set goals and achieve them, giving me a sense of accomplishment. Having this feeling of accomplishment continues to push me towards my further goals that I will set for myself. With many goals set throughout my high school career and nearly all completed, I conclude my fourth quarter, goals achieved essay.
