Former Vice President Al Gore addressed the topic of Internet privacy and stressed that “privacy is a fundamental American value […] in the information age and in every era […] and must be protected” (qt. in Masci). Senior researcher David Masci asserts that the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights indirectly implies the right to privacy “when it prohibits what it calls 'unreasonable' search and seizure” (Masci 183, 184). However, Internet use, the part of almost everyone's daily life that has increased enormously over the past twenty years, has no law protecting the user.
