The closer the friend is, the closer the personal bond the two will have and the more they will reveal themselves. However, there are gender differences when it comes to self-disclosure in same-sex friendships. For example, women express closeness to each other through conversation, revealing both positive and negative natures. Women expect their female friends to provide them with emotional closeness compared to their male friends. Men, on the other hand, show less affection towards their friends. They share less with each other and do not discuss personal problems unlike females. However, when conflict occurs in their friendship, males tend to have an easier time resolving the issue. Even when it comes to love there are gender differences. Men tend to fall in love faster than women. Since men's friendships do not involve self-disclosure, when they find this quality in a loving relationship, they perceive it as something special. On the other hand, because women are able to share their feelings, they are less likely to be as quick to see their relationship as love. There are also gender differences in the connection between love and sex. Men see sex as a means to express their love, while for a woman to feel loved requires more than just sex. There are also gender differences with reproduction. For males, the goal is to reproduce as much as possible, while for females, the goal is to make sure that every child they give birth to successfully survives to a healthy age.
