Topic > Effects of Discrimination in Canada - 1068

The effects of discrimination include all of the following; decrease in employees, productivity, disgruntled employees, financial impact on employers, physical effects on employees and legal issues for employers. Being treated differently just based on gender, sexual orientation, race, etc. it can definitely lead to employees becoming angry. This type of discrimination constitutes a kind of glass ceiling, which does not allow some people to move up in a company based on their gender, sexual orientation, race, etc. When employees leave their jobs to escape workplace discrimination, employers must spend money to hire and replace the lost employee. Many studies show that discrimination in the workplace causes stress for the victim. As a result, victims of discrimination may be placed on antidepressant medications to combat stress. An employee can also take legal action against the company. If a company is found guilty by the US EEOC and believes workplace discrimination has occurred, both parties will be issued a "Letter of Determination" stating there is reason to believe discrimination has occurred discrimination. Once this happens, both parties are invited to join the agency to seek a solution through an informal process called conciliation. Discrimination in the workplace has many effects on both the victim and the company where it occurs. If discrimination in the workplace was avoided, both the company and the employee would save time, money and stress at work.
