His reasoning is that bad things can happen at any time; and as demonstrated by the Fukushima Daiichi reactor, not even the "brilliant Japanese" can make them completely safe. Applebaum uses an emotional approach to try to convince his readers. Use words like “annihilated,” “catastrophe,” and “disaster” to try to cause a state of alarm in the reader. In providing concrete data on the cost of nuclear energy, it highlights how expensive the plants are to build, but does not compare them to other forms of power plants. Therefore the reader has nothing to compare that example with. The author does not create a strong enough argument to support her position on nuclear energy, it is very emotional but lacks logic. In my opinion nuclear energy is pretty amazing and I doubt people actually believe otherwise. The amount of energy it can produce compared to other energy sources is enormous. I believe that, as long as it is used with the utmost care, nuclear energy will be the best possible source of energy
