In both stories, it is evident that the authors emphasized the effect of the family relationship, that is, how a child can be influenced by his parents' decision, or how parents can literally influence a child's success. With this in mind, it is therefore equally important to note that this essay will elaborate on family relationships through comparing and contrasting the two stories. To begin with, in the two stories it is clear that the meaning of parenthood has been perfectly outlined. Evaluating the first story, “Fences,” it is wise to agree that Troy, as his father bore the responsibility of providing for his family, followed suit. He became estranged from his family, who was under his father; and then also crowned with a sense of paternal responsibility, since the time was ripe for him to be able to carry it forward. On the other hand, it is seen that the mother takes on the burden of protecting her children and is happy to welcome her daughter Dee, who is now successful thanks to the foundation of her education given by her mother. The mother, as she sits in the yard awaiting the arrival of her daughter Dee, remembers how she carried Maggie in her arms, from a burning house, in an attempt to save her. With this, it is clear that the two stories describe the meaning of parenthood. In both cases, the racial inferiority in the family compared to parents and children is evident. According to the fence story that revolves around baseball, it is important to note that the narrators describe the fact that Toy is a good hitter, better than many white players. Blacks are inferior when comparing themselves to whites, that's why, even though Troy was a good player, his Negro league didn't give him enough money like his white counterparts who p...... middle of paper.. .. ..of life as a counterpart to white people. In summary, the two stories have different bearings on people's literal lives. Firstly, they have a positive impact on the family, fundamentally on the relationship between parents and children. Secondly, the story also revolves around tradition and culture. According to the authors, they state that culture and tradition have a great influence on every society. Probably, culture is not all that can push a person towards his bright destination in life, on the contrary, culture cannot nail a person to form a group towards the intended life goal when the will is positive. In the precincts, the main narrative is built on the desperation of the characters while when it comes to everyday use; we can clearly see a path of hope that concerns the entire party. The above themes are clearly highlighted for the benefit of the readers.
