Bowie was a man of many talents and had many ups and downs in his life, he had a very hard life in his later years but at first he was a seemingly normal child. David was born on 8 January 1947 in South London as David Robert Jones. He was very interested in music in his early teens and had learned to play the saxophone and had many musical influences based on his half-brother Terry. Terry Burns was ten years older than David and suffered from a serious mental illness that forced him to stay away from home for much of his life after David's parents were reunited. Even though Terry wasn't very close to David, Bowie had still been a huge influence in the short time they had been together. After graduating from Bromley Technical High School, David had become a commercial artist and also made music as a side hobby; eventually his musical career took off and he became the David Bowie we know today. Through all the tragedy, heartbreak and drug abuse, David somehow seems to get back on his feet and show the world what he's made of. David Bowie's musical career was very long, lasting many years and never stopped. to stop until today. As previously stated, he was interested in music from an early age, learning to play the saxophone at the age of twelve. For a fair period of time, while he was a commercial artist, he had joined the band "Davy Jones and the Lower Third" from which many singles had been born but none had shone enough to become very famous. Around this time David changed his surname to avoid confusion with another artist called Davy Jones of the band “The Monkees” (Perone), then changed it to Bowie because of the Bo...... in the center of the card... ...examples are The Man Who Fell to Earth, where he played an alien, and Just a Gigolo.
