Common's “Retrospect for Life” is a personal account of the abortion issue from the perspective of parents. It denotes the emotion and decision-making that comes with the decision to liquidate such a young soul and the effects it has on the conceivers. Common is convinced that abortion was convenient at the time, but when he looks back on his decision he lives in complete guilt because of one of his stupid mistakes. In the song, Common admits that he created the baby irresponsibly and that he wasn't aware that he could get a girl pregnant at his age. Common may have decided to have an abortion for his son because he thought he wasn't big or physical enough, so he had no heartbeat and it was okay to abort. Abortion is a barricaded decision that survives in the back of our thoughts, but when it is convenient it comes to light. Abortion; is the intentional killing of a fetus that usually results from an unintended pregnancy, instead of being ready to care for the baby, couples choose the easy route. If the abortion is completed early in gestation, a study, “the Contraceptive CHOICE project,” was conducted in which women at risk of unwanted pregnancy in the St. Louis, Missouri region received a reversible contraceptive method of their choice for up to 3 years at no cost,” which represents a good clinical research opportunity simply because many people do not have access to contraceptives to prevent multiple consecutive pregnancies (Allen 75). Across the world, it can be seen that unwanted pregnancies are higher among uneducated women, with lower incomes and among unmarried women living with their partners.
