When one begins to become a teenager, they usually separate from siblings and adults. Sometimes I would go into my own world and do things on my own similar to Jem. However, I don't want to push people away, it's a step towards growth. Everydaylife.com said, “Teens go through many emotional and psychological changes, some that cause them to lose touch with the people and things around them.” In this case, Jem is starting to lose touch with people, like Scout, because he is starting to mature. I remember when I was becoming a teenager I wanted to distance myself from my family. It was difficult to communicate my feelings and what I thought.
