For some, seeing the golden arches of McDonald's makes their mouths water and they suddenly crave a Big Mac with salty, crispy fries. Symbols are prevalent in advertising because companies know that customers associate visuals with products, resulting in a purchase. Many people are visual, which gives images a profitable power. Symbols have a way of manipulating people into buying products, believing in the slogans they represent, and providing courage and strength in knowing that others are also uniting behind the symbol.
