Original Theme Statement: “ In Animal Farm, the theme of using violence and terror to gain control is best shown through Napoleon because his need to gain control of the farm leads him to commit murders, tell lies, and cause fear to the farm animals. Have you ever known of a dictator who didn't use power and violence to gain control? How about a dictator who actually worked and didn't lie to the people who followed him? At first dictators may just be simple leaders but when power comes they want more and more and soon they become dictators and often tell lies to maintain that power or in some cases people want dictators because it seems right at the time but in the long run it doesn't it's always the right choice. George Orwell, the author of the famous book Animal Farm, shows us in great detail the consequences of having a dictator through Napoleon, the evil pig who kills anyone who gets in his way to gain control. By causing terror, committing violence and telling lies, Napoleon shows us what it might be like to have a dictator as a leader....
