The priests at this point are forced to support the anti-segregation cause or jeopardize their positions within the Church with their hypocritical positions. King's letter was powerful and crafted with the utmost precision, so much so that on May 10, 1963, the Birmingham Agreement was announced and the city was desegregated. Just 28 days after his arrest, King had conquered Birmingham, “arguably the most segregated city in the United States”..”
