Maya Angelo's life would have turned out very differently if she had no direction. She would be a woman without a purpose in life. He would not have had the strength to endure trials and tribulations. She was a single teenage mom who didn't know where her help would come from. If she didn't have goals in her life at the time, she would have fallen by the wayside, like most teen moms do. He would not be able to take care of his son. Maya and her son could have starved to death if she hadn't known how and where to get assistance. Maya could have stayed on the streets as a prostitute to feed her and her son. Therefore, he would risk his life every day trying to support his family. Maya wouldn't have known what she was capable of if she didn't have direction in her life. As a result, his life would be filled with stress and anxiety as he struggled through life. After Maya, the attacker, was beaten to death, she became mute because she thought that her words caused this person to be beaten to death. If she hadn't had support maybe she would have remained silent and believed it was all her fault. Maya would not have become one of the most famous poets in the world, as we know her today. Most significantly, Maya would not have graduated with her class while she was pregnant. Furthermore, Maya would drop out of school and live a life of poverty. She would have had a very hard life without the wonderful support system that helped her earn her voice and get back on her feet. Maya supported the civil rights movement. If he hadn't offered his support, I'm not sure I would be able to attend classes in a big school today. She is a very inspirational woman. I know his poetry... middle of paper... any talent. I believe Maya's new purpose in life was to educate people of all lifestyles. She had goals she was determined to achieve. He remembered all his teachers and used his skills to move forward, regardless of the circumstances. I know it was difficult for Maya growing up in times of racism, but she didn't let that stop her from being successful. I know it was equally difficult for Maya to be a woman back then. Maya chose to succeed in these dangerous circumstances and moved forward with the right attitude to achieve the goals she knew would bring her long-term success. Maya is an excellent role model for all generations. She is the main reason I am now going to school to follow my dream of becoming a medical coder and biller. Maya makes me proud to be an intelligent woman with a purpose in my life.
