Topic > The Bad Beginning - 1001

I chose to represent A Series of Unfortunate Events because I found it interesting. I've seen the movie but I've never read the book before, so I wanted to see what it's about and I was completely amazed because the book is unlike any other book I've read. It is written in easy-to-read language, and almost every potentially new word is explained through conversations. Events are strange and sometimes confusing, and everything is different and hard to explain, but that's why people like this. A Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of children's novels. It is written by Lemony Snicket (a pen name for Daniel Handler). The series consists of thirteen books: The Bad Beginning, The Reptile, The Wide Window, The Miserable Mill, The Austere Academy, The Surrogate Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, The Carnivorous Carnival, The Slippery Slope , The dark cave, The penultimate danger and the end. I read the first two books and was enchanted by the structure and story. Daniel Handler (born February 28, 1970) is an American author, screenwriter, and accordionist. He is best known for his work under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. Handler was born in San Francisco, California. He attended Commodore Sloat Elementary, Herbert Hoover Middle School and Lowell High School and graduated from Wesleyan University in 1992. Handler is politically active and helped form LitPAC. Although Handler is of part-Jewish ancestry and considers C.S. Lewis an influence, he describes himself as a secular humanist. The Basic Eight, her first novel, was rejected 37 times by many publishers for its subject matter and tone (a dark vision of a teenage girl's life). The second, Watch Your Mouth, was actually c...... center of paper ......ptile Room and The Wide Window). Frankly, the movie wasn't as good as the books, they took out some details and changed some facts. But it was fun to see it on a big screen so you could at least imagine that whole complicated world. To conclude, A Series of Unfortunate Events is an interesting series of children's novels, but written in a different style and language than we use to read. It has 13 sequels and if you want to know the whole story, you should probably read them all. The author is Daniel Handler and he wrote it under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. I represented the first book, The Bad Beginning. It tells of three orphaned children and their adventures. The theme is sad and depressing, but every time Baudelaire's children manage to get out of every unpleasant situation, just as an old proverb says: Every cloud has a silver lining..
