Lack of general knowledge about mental illness In today's world, we have a generally poor understanding of mental illness in two distinct ways: We do not understand the dangers that mental illness can present to people in their daily lives and we do not understand how to adequately care for people suffering from mental illness. However, if we can better understand when, why, and how mentally ill people can become violent, and if we can better understand how to identify and treat the illnesses these people suffer from, we can dramatically improve the lives of many people. People should know more about what some mentally ill people can actually do. Some of them may act deviantly and break informal social rules. For example, when a person suffering from schizophrenia speaks randomly in places where he should be silent due to his imagination. Furthermore, some mentally ill people are simply crazy and commit serious crimes by breaking the law, shootings at schools or in public places. According to an article written by Adam Peck “2014 got off to a deadly start: In the first 14 school days of the year there were at least seven school shootings. For comparison, according to the gun violence prevention group Moms Demand Action, there were 28 school shootings in all of 2013” (Peck, 1014). It seems like you can't prove that these tragedies affect a friend or family member, but statistics actually show that this happens far too often across the country. Most people don't realize the extent of the situation until it affects themselves or someone they care about. Laws may punish these types of criminals, but they do not compensate the families and friends who have been affected. Mentally ill people should probably have some restrictions and... middle of paper... and other people's attitudes. having towards them can be the cause that pushes them to act in a deviant way. If this is true, everything wrong that mentally ill people do is caused by our society. Therefore, it would make sense if the company paid some costs in terms of taxes on what it created. To summarize, I feel that our society is poor in understanding how mentally ill people can dramatically change our lives if they have a bad day. and how to help people suffering from mental health problems. I believe we can improve many lives if we gain a better understanding of this topic. Every member of society and the government should put more effort into providing treatment to the mentally ill. Many citizens and members of the government realize that something needs to change in his situation, but it appears that neither will take decisive action in the near future.
