In the world we live in today everything involves some kind of technology. We are surrounded by it 24/7 and personally use it on a daily basis. At this very moment I am using technology to write this essay. Technology has made human life easier and has helped us a lot, but it has its drawbacks. We are too dependent on it. People are still able to live long and healthy lives without so much technology. All these advances are helping us at the moment, but in the long term they are slowly killing us. I won't lie. Technology gives us a lot that we can take advantage of. With all the technology available today we have managed to find cures for some diseases. It helps us stay connected to our friends and family. It doesn't matter if that person is on the other side of the world; with the power of technology you can still email, text, use the webcam or call them. I have a German friend who was an exchange student during my second year of high school and to this day we are still in contact. It makes long-distance relationships a little easier. Our cell phones could come in handy in an emergency. If you get lost or have some kind of accident you can quickly call anyone who can come and help you. We can use our phones to write down important information, set alarms, get directions, and much more. If you have a school project to work on, you go to Google and you'll find a lot of valuable information you need. At any moment you can take out your phone, search for a question and in a second you will have a billion answers. With all the advancements in technology, we have many kitchen appliances that help us keep food fresh and cook. What if we just use plain paper and a pencil? Now somedays some tea… middle of paper… and because they are too busy texting. I went on the bus the other day and literally everyone around me was on their cell phone. What has our world become? We are killing our brain cells with all this technology. It also makes me lose focus on the work I need to get done. It takes me five hours to write an essay on my laptop because there are so many distractions. Some people might say that they don't depend on it because they are forced to use it only for work and school. This is seventy-five percent of your life. Others might say that we too must depend on it because we simply cannot live without it. No one wants to admit that material things are the most important things in their life. We are all addicted to technology. I would love to see people have a day without technology. I bet everyone would go completely crazy and go on a rampage.
