Ancient Egypt was a very successful civilization due to the seven indicators within the society. One indicator that made Ancient Egypt very efficient was government. The government of Ancient Egypt was ruled by the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh was the supreme head, of government, as well as religion. Since he could not run the entire government by himself, he had hierarchical rulers under him to manage other aspects of the government. In the government there was also the vizier. The Vizier was the overseer of the land, to whom people could report. Having different people in government allowed more work to be done and better decisions made for civilization. The government had ordered society through taxation, laws, and the organization of labor. When laws were formed, they were codified. This was very important: there were more than 700 different hieroglyphs! Egyptian writing was done with ink and pen on papyrus paper. The pens they used were very sharp, thin, reeded. The Egyptians made ink from plants by crushing them and mixing them with water. Writing was used in the school of scribes, in the fields, in the tombs, in the army, in government, and in temples. Writing was used everywhere! Writing was important in the decoration of tombs. The writings on the walls of the tombs helped the Pharaoh reach the afterlife. By keeping records, the government could keep track of how the country was doing. For example, “They could see the amount of grain or animals raised in the taxes.” This was very important because it kept civilization organized and advanced. In conclusion, looking back at Ancient Egypt, through the seven indicators, helped demonstrate that it was an advanced and organized civilization. As government, religion, trade, writing, and record-keeping thrived in ancient Egypt, we can see that it was a well-systematic and unique system.
