In our world there are many different ways in which an individual can own or expropriate a commodity. In this case there are three ways to have possession, ownership, control and simply to obtain something material. Expropriation is the exact opposite of possession. All that was gained, control and ownership has now been lost due to expropriation. This relates to My Emily Dickinson by Susan Howe because she uses many references to herself, thus giving the reader the feeling that this is her story and her views on life and society through poetry. There are three different ways someone can take something. There is possession of a good or object, possession of a good or object, or control of that good or object. Owning an object means you have obtained a piece of ownership. An example of this is when a person goes to the store and buys a watch.
