America's Downward Spiral In recent years, the United States economy has found itself in what many would see as a recession. Americans differ in how they react to a recession. Some, like Michael Moore, believe it is a downward spiral as big businesses and their shareholders gain more money and power, and workers gain less money and stability. With a loss of stability for the American worker comes the fear of losing their confidence. health benefits, social security, retirement plan, and most importantly, their jobs.
