As I near the culmination of my current degree, I seek doctoral studies in the same field at a prestigious university. Since childhood, I have always been fascinated by the science of observation; in fact, my favorite subject in high school was physics. I regularly participated in science exhibitions at school and it was in one such attempt that I went on to display my model “Conics in Physics” at the nationwide science exhibition. The fact that these physical principles are being used to explore the Earth we live on couldn't be more fascinating to me. From my point of view, fate played a role in putting me in search of the wonderful subject of Earth Sciences as I was undecided about my career path even after cracking one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in the world - IIT -JEE. Over time, the study of the earth has instilled a deep interest in me and I am happy to have undertaken this field of study. I now intend to further explore this field through higher studies and perceive doctoral studies as an opportunity to realize my desperate childhood dream of becoming a scientist. Although the energy industry (sector) offers lucrative packages, I have always considered the employment sector as a dead end in terms of career growth, as I find the work trivial and not suitable for me who crave intellectual satisfaction. On the other hand, I consider university life as an excellent platform to satisfy my intellectual craving and develop my personality and I am sure that pursuing doctoral studies from such a reputed institute will open up a good number of opportunities for me.
