That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just really hard to read and keep reading. However, bearing in mind that it is translated from the original Arabic, I understand that things can be very different. Maybe that's why they say all translations are just comments. I also noticed that many of the chapters I read were just advice, kind of like Proverbs. Some even had a poetic sound, which reminded me of the Psalms. But most of the chapters are advice and, like Proverbs, don't contain much story or rules. I found a reference to the story of Abraham. "Have you heard the story of Abraham's guests of honor?" (Surat Adh-Dhariyat, Quran) They briefly refer to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. They also tell a few times how Muhammad was blessed as a prophet and how his words are blessed and
