He led his men on a perilous journey to Grendal's deep, dark lair. Beowulf also demonstrated strength that a normal man could not have had when he raised a sword made for giants. Although Beowulf was an Anglo-Saxon hero centuries later, his heroic attributes continue to appeal to today's heroes. Although Beowulf has super strength, he still displays courage, initiative, selflessness, and a desire to make the world a better place, just like the heroes of
