Sustainable development refers to a mode of human development that aims to meet human needs while ensuring the sustainability of economic, social and environmental systems of the present and future generations . All countries in the world can benefit from this sustainability, especially Lebanon. Unfortunately, however, the Lebanese do not take advantage of this opportunity, especially when it comes to the city I come from, Jounieh. This lack of sustainability in my city is the result of several important causes. One of these is the overpopulation that occurs in Jounieh. This shocking overpopulation has led to a sharp increase in the demand for food which has become increasingly limited since, as we all know, no one can live without eating. Then the amount of food is gradually reduced. As a result, unsustainability and food imbalance remained the city's main problems, causing hunger, poverty and malnutrition for many citizens. Overpopulation also affects the amount of water supplied. Once a large number of people use water for consumption, agriculture, sanitation and in many other cases, there will definitely be a water shortage, a lack of availability of water. As a result, some citizens have died of thirst in previous years and others have been forced to no longer take as many showers as before. From then on, many diseases began to spread among the citizens. Furthermore, overpopulation with a random civil organization, as in Jounieh, has negative effects related to our health since trees are being cut down, carbon dioxide purifiers, and negative effects also related to our financial situations, since there has been a significant increase in the cost of housing. And never forget the… middle of paper… climate change. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it to produce food and give off oxygen in return. Once the forests were destroyed and the trees and plants were cut down, the carbon dioxide remained in the atmosphere. As a result, the cool climate that citizens were accustomed to feeling before gradually became warmer. To summarize, unsustainability has remained the main problem in Jounieh as there has been a lack of awareness on the importance of sustainable development and a failure to implement laws, especially those that protect the ecosystem in which we live. There are many root causes that have led to this unsustainability, such as overpopulation, pollution and deforestation. This issue should be taken into consideration by the government and the citizens themselves; otherwise the Earth will fall into a catastrophic issue: unsustainability.
